Start with GWB and John Boehner's 13 trillion Medicare Part D drug bill. The one they held the floor vote open into the night so they could twist the arms of wobbly GOP reps.
I think Robert Novak's headline was, "GOP pulled no punches in struggle for Medicare bill," Chicago Sun Times, November 27, 2003.
And the military, let's dump them cuz there's no one redistributive arm of govt that takes more of my tax dollars and sends it to other states like MS, AK, KY, SC, TN, etc who get far more in bacon than *they* pay in taxes. Funny, they seem to be having lots of tea parties in those states.
It's not socialism we need to beat back, it's the irritating propaganda reminiscent of nationalist regimes where average people get pointed at bogeys so their leaders can divert the heat off their cronies. As for what it is, we call it a mixed economy and it got us polio vaccines and the bomb and a taxi to the moon and free porno on the intertubes.
No, I'm not a commie, I'm a balance sheet fixin, company reengineering, MBA-totin practicing pragmatist. And I've learned one thing: There's no sustainable margin coming when grown-ups insist on believing fairy tales or ghost stories.
Well, I agree with the Medicare bill. The Constitution doesn't allow the Federal government to do anything with health care.
On the other hand, it does allow the Federal government to run the military. So that's staying.
This unconstitutional spending didn't start with Barry. But he's wanting to take it to a ridiculous level, and we're done with him.
